Backpressure is a load of crap, the ideal exhaust system has no backpressure. Alot of people get the concept of backpressure mixed up with exhaust velocity.

 

As for the get a cherry bomb if a flow isn't loud enough comment, have you ever heard a Borla XR1? Bricks would be shat

I have the Flowmaster 40 on my truck and it sounds sweet. I get compliments on it all the time. I'm not concerned with any negative comments made by people on this site about Flowmaster. The amount of compliments from people who have heard this muffler will by far outweigh any negative opinions.

I'm debating between the Flowmaster 44 SI/DO, or the 18" Magnaflow SI/DO, retaining stock factory cat forward. After listening to an uncounted number of vids on youtube I'm leaning towards the Magnaflow. Truth is, behind a factory cat, neither are going to be very loud, and both will probably sound very similar. I think the Magnaflow is constructed better and it does have a better warranty. Guess it's time to just pull the damn trigger

Magnaflows will give you a slight performance increase as well.

Well if you are still trying to figure it out...I have a GMC Sierra and I put a 50 series on it with a turn down pipe because I did not want it to be too loud. After about 4 months I decided that I did not care for it and wanted it louder.....so I just had a 40 series put on it....well unfortunately it is also not as loud as I want it it. It sounds good but if you are looking for something that will turn someone's head or people will here you coming down the street then I would go with the 10 series...that is my next step. The 40 sounds ok if you are just looking for something with a little base in it but not something that is "beast sounding" I just wish someone would have said something or I would have found this discussion before I spent money on the 40. I will be buying a 10. Just food for thought.
