Amp Wiring

This weekend I plan on added an amp and sub to my truck.  Where is the best place to hook the main power wire to?  There is a little red box under the hood that has a positive on it.  Can I put a loop connector on my power wire and hook it to that?  Also where is the best place to hook the secondary power wire to (the one that turns it the amp on)?

I have a factory head unit so can I hook the secondary wire to a fuse, like the windshield wipers or something that comes on when the truck is turned on?

Thanks for your help.

That little red box is there just for that reason since there really isn't that much room to hook anything up to th battery.  And run your remote wire to a switched fuse in the fuse box. I think I put a female spade connector on the end of my wire and plugged it in to a switched power in the lower right hand corner of the little black box on the floor.  Then you'll be ready to rock. :wtf:

Ok!  Who runs what subs here and how many!  I have 2 new JL 10W6's I acquired and am wodnering if that will be alright for the noise I want.  OR should I just run one of them??  This stereo stuff is new to me!

Man, be careful prodding around with a test light!  You really should use a digital VOM if ya got one. (volt-ohm meter)

I am adding a 8" bass tube that I had in my reg cab truck.  It made a huge difference in that truck so I am hoping it does the same in this truck.  I don't want a lot of bass just something more than stock.  Hank Williams Jr. sounds good with a little thump.  I don't know how much noise you want, but 2 tens should do the trick.  They take up alot of space.  I had my 8" bass tube in my reg cab and it made my truck shake, rattle and roll.

I had 2 12s in my old burb, boy did it make that thing shake.  Never bought or made a box for them until now so they will be rocking in the silverado as soon as the box arrives....I CAN"T WAIT.  Looks like I need to ask for some Dynomat for xmas! :wtf:

I just went to the local BrandsMart and bought one of there genaric boxes for $40.  Its a sealed box and fits perfect in between the trany hump and the wall, and flush with the front of the seat with about a 2" gap from the bottom of the seat.
