I have a 2006 silverado 3500 w/ the gas vortec. (not diesel) I don't ever use the A/C (I'm in Alaska..lol) the blower switch has 5 settings. The highest setting is 5. A few days ago, #5 quit working. Yesterday #4 quit for a minute until I wiggled the switch. I researched this and it seams as if it is odd that high went out before low... Any thoughts?? Thanks.

Sounds like a loose connection at the switch? But I would also check the blower motor resistor, as they had problems with loose connections and melting connectors.

It's the blower resistor and wire harness. There is a recall on it. Don't try to fix it yourself. Take it right to the Chevy dealr and they will install a new resistor and wire harness for free.

Do a search on here (click on "Forums" then do your search) for "Blower resistor recall"

Yes it sounds like you have the manual controls, and in this case it is under warranty thriough a special campaign. If you had the auto climate control, like me , i just had to fix it myself and all the other problems it caused when the malfunction hit.

I had the same problem this week. I called the dealer and they took care of it, all better now!
