5.7 tbi long hard start when cold.

Hey guys looking for some direction, my 89 2500 has problems starting in the colder temps, anything below freezing. I gonna be honest and say i dont know much about tbi engines. It takes a few tries to get her to start, lately I've been having to pour some gas down the throttle body to keep it from killing the battery from me cranking and cranking. Once I get it running it gives me no problems for the rest of the day. Let it sit a few days or its below freezing the following day, same issue. I read somewhere that the 1989 tbi had leaky injector issues.

 

I thought id ask the pros on this one.

Check fuel pressure. Has to be 9-13 lbs. Key on, engine off. Same running.

If you have been using fuel with ethanol and it has water in it, you will get these same symptoms. Try a bottle of fuel dryer and some fresh non-ethanol fuel.

It seem to remember something about a bad temp sensor also causing this.
