Max Tire Size w/6" lift

I want to put 36x14.50x16.5 tires on a 10 inch wheel.  I have a 6" suspension lift and I have 35x12.50x16.5 on a 10" wheel and I seem to have alot more room.  I LOVE the Mickey Thompsons and Parnelli Jones dirt grips and the cool tire sizes they offer.  Would I be safe with a bigger/wider size?  My 12.50's dont really stick out the side with the 10' wheel, so I think 14.50 may be fine, but I dont know.  I have seen 12" wide wheels with the 12.50's and they stick out just right. Any suggestions or comments would be AWESOME!  Thanks

Question, with the Allison have you had any problems with the shifting with the larger tires.  I have really been afraid to do much with all the stories I've heard.  Have you found a way to change the speedo or change the shift points?

I dont think 14.50's are do able unless you have a ranch hand or some other bumper with additional clearance...i am wanting to run 36.14.50 MT's as well so I think I will add a 2-3" body lify to my truck when the time comes

There is definitely a difference on the way the transmission shifts with bigger tires, especially at higher speeds and in tow/haul mode, but not a problem. I have had my lift and tires and wheels now for 13,000 miles. I had the transmission programmed for 31x10.5's and it helped my speedo a little bit, they couldnt program it with bigger tires than that.  I dont know if there is a different chip or something to match the bigger tire sizes.  Instead of 8 mph off at 40mph, I am only about 4 or 5mph off.  I am kindo hoping that with a 10" wide wheel, the 14.50's wont be too wide.  The 12" wide wheel makes those 12.50's look just as wide as 14.50's.  I guess I will find out today or tomorrow how they will work, the tire store is going to mount 2 different tires on my wheels to see what happens. I will let you know the outcome!

Okay amigos! I got my Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips!!  They fit perfect!  There is a slight rub on the airdam when I am in reverse with  thewheels cranked, and I rubbed once going over a deep rain gutter, but not bad.  I went with the 36x14.50x16.5 on a 10" wide wheel.  They look BAD!!  There is no way 37's would fit, I am maxed out, unless you had an additional 3" body lift or something.  I will take some pics and post them soon.

How much per tire and where? Glad to hear they fit though....

so do you have 16.5x9.75 wheels or 16x10's? Just asking cuz i think this makes a big difference....

Mine are actually 9.75, which a 1/4 inch may make a difference.  I got my tires for 300.00 each, and they gave me 500 dollars trade in on my 35x12.50 BFG AT's, which was really cool.  I saw somebody else selling the same tire for 340.00 each, so hopefully I got a little bit of a deal.  I am POSITIVE you could get them for less over the internet, but shipping would be alot and then you have to pay to have somebody mount and balance them for you, unless you lucky and have access to that stuff yourself.  I got them mounted and balanced and installed for free plus lifetime free balance/rotations, so I cant complain!!

All the 2500 HDs Ive seen with 35 -12.50 x16.5  or 12.50 x 17 on 16.5 x 9.75  and 17x 10 Welds or similar wheels rub with a 6" lift.

They have to trim the front valance and they still rub on back side of front fender on compression turning  into a parking lot.  You might be able to get another inch or 2 out of the torsions without sacrificing ride quality as most Torsion bars on trucks (Fords especially like the expediton 4x4) come with Minimal preload.

Just count the turns so you can back them off if needed.  Id get the 8 Inch with 35's.  or 10 with 37s.  They look sweet that way.

I went ahead and put 36x14.50x16.5 on a 9.75 rim, I trimmed the front air dam a little bit, and they dont rub at all, unless the wheels are cranked and I go over a huge gutter or speed bump fast.  They dont rub on the back of the front wheel well at all.  my truck sits completely level, without the front end cranked higher than the rear.  I am actually quite surprised!!  I wouldnt go with a smaller tire EVER!!
