looking for new tires?

Well, I finally got new tires. I went with the Nitto Terra Grapplers in size 285/75/16. I'm very impressed with my choice so far. They are awesome tires. Very good ride quality and very little road noise, and they look great. My truck looks so much better with bigger tires.

 

As far as tread life, we'll just have to see., but they look pretty promising with load range D.

 

These tires ride just as good as the michelin ltx a/t's that I had on my old truck, and way better than the goodyears that they were replaced with. Also a good value at about $150 a tire.

 

So, if you are in the market for new tires, don't forget about the new Nitto's.

I just looked at them on the Nitto website. If the picture is correct, fairly aggressive looking tire, black wall (looks nice). Did you order them online and take them to a local tire store to mount or did you buy them at a local B&M (brick and mortar) store?

Would you please take a tape measure and measure the actual height of the 285s mounted, on the truck and weighted?  I'd like to know how tall they actually are in inches.  NOT what the manufacturers specs say.  Thanks in advance.

 

FWIW, my 295 BFG A/Ts ("old" style, as opposed to the "KO") measure 31.5" and they are supposed to be a 33' tire.  Granted they are 3/4 worn but even new they didn't measure close to 33" new.

 

If anyone else has 315s of any brand I would appreciate a measurement of these also.  What the manufacturers publish is all over the place.

 

I'm trying to figure out how large a tire I can go and would like to know how the Nittos "measure" up.

Quibbs, I got the tires at Discount Tire. They didn't have any in stock, so they got em from another store.

 

Rick, I measured the tires. 31.5" is what I come up with ??? . I know they should be 33", but thats probably not mounted.

Maybe it's 33" when mounted on the wheel but not installed on the vehicle (which would squeeze it down ??? )

Not bad looking rubber, wished it showed a bit more of the tread.  By the way, where are you at with my twin?  I swear each time I see new pictures it seems like there's another all indigo blue Z71...I know Ryan's got 1, there's someone else in Ohio besides me, myself, and maybe 1 more...probably about 4 or 5 of us all indigo z's now.

Clk, looks good, tread is similar to the BFG's that I looked at...a little too much for my use, but what works for you.   :thumb:   If we ever have a meeting like has been discussed, maybe all these indigo's can get a photo.
