Evap Codes Affect Tune???

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for a tune with BBP this weekend and Im stoked. But, I got a SEL the other day and pulled a P0446 (IIRC) code on my reader. It the infamous gas cap code and Ive gotten it before on occasion, but never gave it a second thought after I clear it. But, I began to wonder if this type of code would affect the tuning process of the effectiveness of the tune. Does anyone know if one of these codes will cause any problems for Justin?

I emailed this question to Justin earlier in the week, but Im sure they are busy getting ready to come down here so Im turning to you guys hoping to get a response before the tune meet.

No, it won't impact the tune at all. I would suggest checking the gas cap 2-3 times after you fill up, as a habit- they are finicky.

Thanks Jenna.

Ive had an aftermarket gas cap on it since I bought it. I keep saying that Im gonna replace it with a factory one, but I never remember when Im at the dealer.

If you have a locking gas cap, replace it with a non locking OEM one, I had bought a locking one from GM and I started getting the code.

No more codes after I put the old one back on.

Well, the dealer I bought it from (non GM) replaced the factory cap trying to fix the code, but they didnt replace it with a factory part. Been getting the code intermittently since Ive owned the truck (little over a year). Maybe next time Im in town I will remember to get a factory replacement.
