DDM Tuning HIDs - ghetto.

I installed projector headlight housings and a DDM HID kit for my low beams in my 2011. I have since quit using DDM for anything because their products have gone downhill very quickly. I HAD a DDM HID kit in my snowmobile and all I ever had was bad ballast issues so I threw them out.

 

The DDM kit i have in my truck is only there because I havent had time to take it out. I have since purchased a Retro Solutions HID kit that is sitting on my kitchen table waiting to go in. I need to get the ambition up to install it because I am sure it will get rid of the issues that I have with the DDM kit which is like those mentioned before in this thread. Most of the time with the DDM kit my HIDS will not fire on without me first turning them off manually and then back on manually.

 

I DO have the DRL fuses pulled, so that is not the issue. The only thing I can figure is that the relay harness for the DDM kit is garbage, and the ballasts themselves are low quality.

Even pulling the DRL fuse on the 07+ Silverados ( and Sierra's) will not really solve many issues unfortunately since the truck uses pulsed voltage to the headlights. The DRL will stop coming on with the pulled fuse, but the voltage pulse cannot be eliminated and still would have to be addressed unfortunately. That causes a lot of trouble for people.

The kit I bought from Retro Solutions uses what looks like a capacitor in their harness instead of a relay like I have now. Like I said, I just need to get the ambition up to tear apart the headlights again.
