Service Tire Pressure System

I got that error msg today in the middle of a thunder storm.

I do not have a code reader and do not have access to one.

I noted that I do not have a pressure reading from the Driver side rear.

I am guessing that the sensor in that tire has failed, is that the correct guess?

Any actions I can take to verify my suspicions ?

The msg is in the truck below and it is mechanically stock.

Does this fault require a GM dealer visit to reprogram the computer or can any shop replace the sensor and the error will correct itself or will my truck need to phone home at a GM dealer to be reprogrammed?

BTW tire pressure is good checked with a manual tire pressure guage.

Thanks in advance

Have you pulled the tire off for any reason? Tire rotation, flat tire...

It may need to be reprogrammed back to the truck. You can do it the hard way. I believe its in the owners manual about tire rotations and relearning sensors, or you can take it to the dealer. Not sure if any aftermarket shops can fix.

Got error while driving on highway - no big bumps / pot holes that I have hit.

To answer your questions - have not moved , removed tire since last oil change 3000 miles ago, I rotate tires each oil change at 5K intervals

and tire has proper inflation pressure as noted.

Update:

I did nothing to the truck and or tire.

On Monday drove the truck to work; no warning lamp and no message and I am getting a reading on the dash for all 4 tires.

So is there a way water/rain could affect the sensor and or the computer that picks up the TPMS signals ?

Update to the update

My sensor acted up again in the rain today.

So today my truck paid a visit to the general

DX of faulty sensor in the tire.

$175.00 for repair and reprogramming the truck.

So now I hope the problem has been solved. I hope.frown.gif
