08 silverado

i got an 08 silverado i just bought on tuesday. baraly used like-new inside and out. its got 17s on it i was wondering if i would be able to get larger tires and keep stock rims? or if id be able to get larger tires WITHOUT lifting the truck? if so how large do you think i could get away with? im 16 and this is my first truck. truck is granite blue i believe its called, extended cab 6.5 foot bed 5.3 liter v8 vortech

Welcome to the forum. Post up some pics. What size are your stock tires? Mine came with tires that had about 32" diameter tires. To go any bigger you most likely need a 2" front level. With a 2" front level, most run about a 33" diameter tire.

Congrats on the new truck! My stock tires where 265/65 (31.5" tall) and with a 2" leveling kit I'm now running 275/70s (33.6" tall). They fit and no rubbing, but there isn't much room left, check the pics in my profile.

With the 17 inch rims you can go with a 275/70/17 and do nothing else, it's about a half inch taller than the stock 265/70/17's. Or you can get a leveling kit and go up to a 285/70/17. That's about it with the stock 17's though. If you find other tires that have an oddball size they will likely be more expensive and harder to get your hands on.
