you dont really want to set the gain based on distortion. You really should do it with a DMM.

Well to answer your question, yes...BUT

 

EQ and gain arent really a set one and dont touch the other kind of thing. The first thing you should do is set your gain. Heres a good link for this, youll need a DMM. http://www.ecrack.net/forums/topic/878-gain-setting-tutorial/. The Eq looks like its the bass boost on your amp. That will add bass to any given volume level. The low pass really depends on the performance of your speakers. set it at 70hz and see how it sounds.

So i can take my DMM or possibly my power probe 3 , and hook it right to the output on the amp and see the volts then to determine if its putting out the 500 watts it should be.?

This is where i currently have my amp settings and it seems to hit pretty good. I re tweeked it today to this, yesterday i had the gain higher and the eq lower and the lp higher.. Turning down the lp helped make it clearer . Turning down the gain also helped make it clearer , and turning up the eq made it louder and crisp. I am still trying to keep it turned down tho since i heard your supposed to break the sub in. How do these settings look?

 

 

 

Heres the difference between the old subwoofer and the new one is amazing! The size of the magnet alone is funny.

Here's what it says in the manual ..

 

Input Gain Adjustment Control

Set the MRP-M1000/MRP-M500 input gain to

the minimum (4V) position. Using a dynamic CD

as a source, increase the head unit volume until

the output distorts. Then, reduce the volume 1

step (or until the output is no longer distorted).

Now, increase the amplifier gain until the sound

from the speakers becomes distorted. Reduce

the gain slightly so the sound is no longer

distorted to achieve the optimum gain setting.

 

Where can i get a "dynamic cd" or is this pretty much just the music i listen to , or a old school bass cd to make calibrating easier.. THanx again

Those settings look pretty good, especially if its sounding clear and good. No reason to go above the NOM point on the gain if it sounds good and you dont need to get more power output. Im not sure what they mean by a dynamic cd. I set with a 50hz test tone.

I dont think you need it really from the sounds of it, but i searched for test cds on torrents.

http://www.realmofexcursion.com/downloads.htm found it there. I want to tweak the sound better since right now i go less than half way of the radio volume and its very loud.. so i gotta use that tone to set correct. thanx for the correct tone hz
