Need help with electric fan setup

I have a 2002 Silverado w/ tow package and it has a 28 inch radiator. I'm looking at installing an electric fan and removing my clutch fan in order to reduce my coolant temps. in the summer (always seems to run a bit warmer, especially with A/C on, and yes there are no leaks in case anyone would be asking). I want to install a flex-a-lite 292 electric fan, which has two fans in the same shroud. I was wondering if this thing runs on a single or dual relay switch? I do not want to order the wrong one and then have to return it and wait. I would like an adjustable thermostat, but if you have any recommendations on which relay harness I should get, please post. Thanks

You are missing the point of using electric fans. An electric fan will not cool better than a clutch fan - the clutch fan pulls more air. Regardless your engine will only get as cool as the thermostat will allow. Some temperature fluctuation while towing is to be expected and is normal operation.

I believe that two 13.5" fans will cool a lot better than a single clutch fan, especially if the relay had its own thermostat and it stays running, even after the vehicle turns off. It creates a lot more airflow through the radiator which in turn cools it quicker, better, and more efficiently. I just need to know if I need a relay set up for two fans or one, because they are in the same shroud.

PS: I've had temps. while towing as high as 230+ and the boat and trailer weigh 2000 lbs at most

If you have temps that high then you have other cooling issues than just needing electric fans!

Mine tows 9,000 pounds in 100 degree heat up mountain passes and doesn't get past 220 ish for the engine and 215 for the trans.

I forgot to mention that was on the old motor with a cracked head. The motor i installed in place of it runs great and doesnt leak or burn coolant, I just like to see cooler temps. but my trans temp. gets quite high while not towing. It was 201 in stop and go today

Yeah that's a big thing to forget to mention.

Depending where you are and what the outside temp is, ~200 for the trans in stop and go is normal.

With the a/c on, the temp of the air that has just gone through the condensor will be somewhere between ambient air temp and 2 times ambient air temp and then it goes though the radiator. Once you get past about 25mph the air flow though the rad will be sufficient without a fan at all.

The flex a lite 292 already comes with a VSC (variable speed controller) Everything should already be included to wire it up. With the VSC you can adjust it so the fans kick in sooner or later with a small turn of a screwdriver.

Here is a link to another forum to get an idea of whats involved to install but remember this is for obs, not nbs so not sure if there's any major differences in install

I've been thinking of doing this mod to my 01 Seirra 5.3. My only concern is towing. I will be towing 6,000lbs+ this summer but my fan clutch has took a shit (it runs ALL THE TIME! sounds like a damn turbo prop, lol). Would this mod still be good for towing that much weight?
