Replacing OEM (Rear) Door Speakers-2010 Silverado?

Recommended Posts

Morning!

Next project is to replace the crappy stock rear-door speakers. Crutchfield is fantastic with all they provide (information, instructions, pigtails, mounting brackets, etc.) for most things. However, they indicate that the rear-door speakers on an extended cab Silverado require an owner-fabricated bracket...

Have any of y'all done this?

If so, how easy or difficult is it?

What size are the existing speakers and the hole? (5 1/4", 6 1/2", or 6 3/4"?)

Finally, what is a good quality (decent sounding) pair of replacement speakers, keeping everything else stock?

Thanks in advance!

Patients is a virtue my friend. If you don't mind drilling into your door, then you don't have to do what I did. Some people on here have also used mdf and made their own bracket. I got a spare set of stock speakers from another member, and got all of my cutting, fitting and mounting done before I took mine out. If you want a set of stock rear speakers, your welcome to my old ones. You can have them for free, just pay shipping.

I used the base that came attached to the stock speaker, same thing on the fromt speakers. Cut the old speaker out of the stock mount, and you will have a perfect fit speaker mount for the 5.25 inch speakers.
