TPMS Failure

This afternoon my TPMS warning light came on with "Service Tire Pressure Monitoring System" displayed. The DIC showed my LR wasn't receiving any reading...just "--" instead of a number. I stopped to verify i did actually have air in the tire (figured I did), and I checked all tire pressures when I got home, they were all normal.

These are factory sensors and are only about 3.5 years old (according to my truck's build date) and I had just reached 49000 miles. I know electronic malfunctions are going to happen, but how common is having a sensor fail? How much can I expect to spend on a replacement sensor? Should I replace all four or just the one?

Thanx for your input!

If it continues to give you problems, before replacing I'd try to have the dealer reflash the TPMS sensors. They just walk around and code each sensor to the truck. Mine has done it twice for me for free. I bought a new set for mine when I changed wheels off eBay for about $100 IIRC.
