OGM1: Streaming video (Netflix/YouTube) w/JLINK cable

I'm sure some of you are already doing this, but for those that aren't, we've taken a video showing you how to get Netflix, YouTube or any other streaming video source to play from your iPhone using nothing more than the JLINKUSB cable. In the past, we advocated using a separate cable for streaming video and using the A/V input, but this method allows you to use your existing JLINK cable you normally use for your iPod/iPhone:

 

 

 

All we're doing here is opening the video source as we normally would, then going back to the iPhone and choosing a different video source to play back. We also noticed a couple things are required to allow this type of operation:\

• You must have at least one video file downloaded to the iPhone in iTunes, or you will not be able to turn on the iPod video section of the OGM1
  
• You need to play the "onboard" video clip for a couple seconds before you attempt to change to your streaming source or the video will freeze and you'll only hear audio from your streaming video source
  

 

I'd love to hear some feedback here, including what your favorite streaming video sites are.

It looks like you don't need the 1/8" jack for this video playback? I was always under the impression both USB and the 1/8" jack were needed for video playback?

My j link is working great but how do I play from my iPhone to the rear dvd's Rosen7550's? I tried to switch them to auxiliary and it would come up on ogm1 but rear headrests said no signal. Also how do I play dvd's on rear and listen to xm up front. Thx a lot. Other than that I LOVE this setup

The rear output of the OGM1 is only for DVD output. To use it, start a DVD on the deck then switch to any other source - you'll have DVD output on the rear headrests while you listen (or watch) any other source on the OGM1. You'll be able to control the DVD playback while driving by hitting the "Rear LCD" source on the menu - this allows you control without having to go back into the DVD source - because you would never watch the DVD while driving, right? :- )

 

If you wanted to run iPhone output to your rear headrests, what you'd want to do is this:

• Source an "A-B" video switch (under $10 on Amazon)

   

• Output of OGM1 feeds "A" input of switch

   

• iPod/iPhone to RCA cable feeds "B" input of switch

   

• Output of switch feeds input of headrests

   

 

Choose "A" when you want to send DVD to rear headrests and "B" when you want to stream Netflix or YouTube...
