Air duct intake clamp

I noticed on my 2001 4.8 Silverado that there is no clamp on the duct where it attaches to the intake. I tried to move it to see if it was loose but it is on super tight like it is glued on. the other end going to the air cleaner housing has a clamp. i have had this truck since new and never noticed this before. the end without a clamp does have the raised tabs where the clamp would go. Anyone know if this is normal condition???

GM figures there is no reason to be separating the intake tube at that location, so they just used an adhesive on it.

I was wondering the same thing. Figured it was either factory or someone removed it later. Good to know it was never meant to be.
