OGM1/XM Issues: Semi-explanation from Advent

This is from a tech tip released by Advent regarding the issues some are having with the XM tuner. I have only seen the issue personally a couple times a couple months ago and cannot duplicate it on demand EXCEPT by the process outlined in the tech tip (open door, turn key on for 3-4 seconds, then off - XM will be dead) - they wrote this tip based on the experience in my own personal Tahoe trying to duplicate the problem:

Complaint: I get in my truck, close the door and turn the key on for just a moment then turn it off. My radio comes on but my XM doesn’t work. I have to actually turn the key off then on again longer or start the vehicle to get XM. Why?????

Issue: The GM XM Factory Tuner does NOT turn on quickly, it actually takes about 30 - 45 seconds to turn on and acquire a signal (sometimes even longer). If the key is not on long enough for this to happen the radio (both FACTORY and ADVENT) do not see the tuner data. On the factory radio it will just show you AM and FM and not respond to the XM key, on the Advent radio it goes to the XM screen but there is no Audio or Data.

Solution: Wait for XM to come on. There is nothing wrong; this is the way the GM OEM XM Tuner works.

The only common thread we've seen that has any effect on these XM issues is the amount of time you pause at "ACC" & "IGN" - generally, Duramax owners will experience the issue with greater frequency because they sometimes have to "wait to start".

If anyone can duplicate this issue with any combination of key operations (or any other way, for that matter) PLEASE report it, or better than that, video it and post the clip.

Advent is still VERY interested in getting to the bottom of the complaints, but they have to be able to duplicate the problem...
