Battery Warning Light

I've got a 2003 Sierra purchased last week and was wondering if the battery warning light should come on and stay on while the ignition is in the ACC mode. It goes off once the engine is running and does not come on while driving, only when sitting in it listening to the radio. Is this normal? (Gauges show no battery drain)

My 03 works the same, shouldn't be a problem.

this is normal---just like the cargo light on--willnot come on if the low fuel light is already on--this is part of the messaging system built into the trucks i believe---it is the same on my 2000 gmc

when listening to the radio turn the key toward you and the light wont come on........
