Ignition cylinder lock

My '07 Silverado classic LT was broken into and the ignition cylinder was messed up with a flat head screwdriver. My key goes in but does not turn. Can I get this fix myself with an ignition lock cylinder kit from acdelco ? My key does not have a cross or show signs of having a chip inside it.

Yes I do believe you can. I don't recall there being a chip in the key.

Do I have to take the steering wheel off or can I just take the part that covers the ignition ? I looked at Haynes book and I was wondering if I can just bypass taking the steering wheel off to get to the ignition . Thanks for replies !!

Fixed my truck , It was pretty simply , I just had to be carefull drilling out old ignition switch : )
