Electric fan swap!

Recommended Posts

I'm in the middle of swapping out a set of ported LQ9 heads on my 04 2500HD. I was also going to replace bunch of parts since winter is coming and I don't feel like doing it in -20 degree weather. I took off the fan and noticed how heavy it is and was planning on swapping it to a electric fan.

I had two 15" push fans laying around my garage from my previous project and was going to utilize them here.

As far as wiring them, I'm in ?????? I looked online and found a 190 degree GM temp switch with two lead coming from it. I assume this is a temp switch. I was thinking of wiring the ground straight to the frame and the 12V+ lead from a 12V ignition source to the switch and from switch to the fan.

If there is a electrician guru here can you help?

Thanks,

Dan

You can actually drive them with your PCM. It requires a reflash but someone like BlackBear can do that.
