I just got my Weathertechs today from FedEx. Has anybody ever taken theirs off? Do they rub the paint off like my GM mud flaps did on my last truck? Should I put 3M tape behind them? Please advise I can't take anymore stone chips on my 2012 it's making me sick. THANKS

I would definitely put some 3M tape behind them. Below is what I posted in another thread about this same thing a couple of months ago:

"I had WeatherTechs on my 2008. When I took them off, 3 of them hadn't done a thing to the paint, but the one on the front passenger side had rubbed away most of the paint under it. When I installed them on my 2011, I put a small strip of 3M tape on each where they touched the paint. I'm sure that will keep it from happening again."

On that one guard, it had rubbed away every bit of paint where it touched the truck. It was still on good and tight, too.

Thanks for your help. I haven't figured out which is worse, stone chips or mud flaps rubbin the paint off. Do they sell that tape at most auto parts stores?

I had the guy that put on my clear bra put the tape on where the flaps went...only $20. I think on Amazon they wanted $24 for the tape alone.

I found on my front flaps when you went to reuse the factory plastic rivets that they were too short to use with the increased thickness of the flap. I called WT and they sent out two more of the stainless steel nut and bolts.

Just a heads up.
