Wierd Clock Problem

Ok this has happened twice in the past month and a half.  I get in my truck and start it up.  I look at the clock and it says 2:53 then 2:54 then 2:55 (keeps counting up and it skips to an hour) 3:20, 4:30, 5:45, etc does this for about 5-10 seconds and then finally reaches the correct time.  Its like it is counting up to the real time.  

 

Just wondering if you guys ever had this happen?

Wow...I gotta say, that sure is strange.  I've never seen anything like that on mine.  Sounds like you got yerself some demons in that radio.

haha my clock is possessed.  First time it happened i was like O ^$&^$&*^$ someone put a bomb in my truck and that was the timer.  It wierd though cause i think last time it happened it was kinda warm during the day and real cold (15 degrees or colder) at night.  Wonder if the battery is on the brink?

Sounds like some board level component has seen enough cool/heating cycles that it's about to give.  

 

If that's the case, it'll prob. just go @ some point, then you're stuck w/ a repair bill if you want a clock!

Thats weird... One time when I started my grandparents Buick Century, the digital odometer started clicking up miles, while I was sitting still, a total of 20 miles.  Dealer couldnt find anything wrong.

Sounds like some board level component has seen enough cool/heating cycles that it's about to give.

 

repair bill?  Couldnt i just replace the radio/headunit if the clock ever went out???  It isnt losing time or anything

I've heard of a TSB where the clock resets to 12 O'Clock (without affecting the radio presets), but I've never heard anything about a clock counting on it's own and then knowing when to stop!!!  Hmmm...

I've had it where my clock resets to some totally random time.  Like it would say 3:40 when it was really 6:00. This has happened a few times.  Weird!

I know you are smarter than this but it wouldn't happen to be your cd player counting the minutes and the seconds and then it flicks back over to the actual clock.  I've seen this before in my truck and it just so happened to be at close to the correct time when it flicked back to the actual time.

the clock in my cruiser was being goofy today.  When I'd start it up, it'd be off time...then a few seconds later, the correct time was displayed.  I have no clue, and could really care less as the thing is close to 100k and if she dies on the road, let the back garage come tow me.  I just want to be the 1 who puts all the 0's after that 1 on the dash.

You would be covered under the TSB (I don't know the number).  It calls for replacement of the radio...

That crossed my mind but both times i didnt have a cd in the player  ???

Just replace it with a real stereo!  hehe

 

Mine would freeze the display when it was real cold out and not respond well to the buttons last winter after I first bought my truck.  However I replaced it with a real deck this summer so I can't help much other than think it may be related to the cold?
