i was just making my dream truck on the GMC site and would like to know why one would want and extra battery? and what does it mean to have wiring provisions for a camper?

The extra battery helps with starting, provides more reserve capacity, and provides more available power to run winches, lights, snowplow, etc..

Downside- two batteries to replace when the time comes, as well as the up front cost.

I personally will not buy a truck without two batteries, due to the climate I live in (Minnesota), and the fact that my truck is a diesel (dual battery standard).

The trailer wire option gave me a plug by the rear hitch and a bundle of wire under the bed for fifth wheel and a jumper to connect your brake controller.

Funny you should mention this.  For exactly the reasons stated by SoMnDmax.  Most 12v (I.E. Single battery) electrical systems are pretty well taxed running everything that is already on a vehicle, let alone aftermarket stuff like stereo equipment, cell phones, extra lighting, trailer equipment/brakes, winches, etc, etc.

Come in the next few years, you'll start to see the next generation of cars from all manufacturers start to trickle out with 24v systems standard.  I don't know the timeframe, I just remember reading the bulletins somewhere.
