Help with OEM Heated Seat Install

I posted this to another forum that is specific to Tahoe/Yukon, but didn't get any help. I'm hoping that someone here could assist as some of the posts here are pretty technical.

 

I have a 2010 Tahoe LS that I recently picked up from a government auction. It is a special service variant with the 5W4 RPO code. I installed the OEM heated seat accessory according to the instructions. After install, I took it to the dealer to get the BCM and door modules programmed. They told me that after programming, the heaters don't work (no lights, no heat). I took it home, triple checked every connection. Everything is as the install instructions say, the connections are all tight, and there is power at the connection to the fuse panel.

 

Because of the 5W4 RPO code, I'm worried that the truck may not have the wiring to support this accessory, although I can't find it anywhere that says these seat heaters won't work with 5W4.

 

Anyone suggest any ideas before I take it back to the dealer where they are going to charge me a couple of hours of labour to track down the problem?

I had the same problem with my SLE All Terrain Sierra. The dealer needs to call GM Tech support and get a VCI number from them. This basically let's GM write a program for your SUV/truck telling it that it now has heated seats.

 

I did the very same thing as you. Installed the kit and no lights, no power, nothing. Had the dealer try to program and still nothing. Went back and triple checked my wiring and everything was correct. So I looked around and found out about the VCI number and took it back to the dealer. Took them about an hour on the phone and as soon as the tech entered the code that GM gave them the seats came right on and are working like a champ!

Now I know this is way past when, but I was wondering if anyone else had the problem of asking the dealer to reprogram their module, and them saying no. Apparently GM doesn't allow this? I will try calling more GM dealerships tomorrow, maybe I just asked the wrong guy. Thanks.
