My EDC is a Glock as well. Sitting on the desk next to me right now. G32 in my case. Had it since spring of 2009. Been absolutely reliable, never a jam or misfeed or anything else. The finish is starting to show some holster wear but that just gives it character. The treatment Glock uses is actually under the black finish, essentially baked into the slide so even if all the black coating wore off it'd still be fine.

Yep, the finish is more of a steel treatment than a coating. You can sand blast it and the finish is still there.

I am a huge glock supporter, however my glock 23 is an early gen 4 and I've about 6 jams in ~6,000 rounds. To me that is unacceptable. They were all failures to extract. It also throws cases like crazy. Usually straight back into your face.. I've had all the replacement parts put in. New RSA, ejector, extractor. I had 2 failures in a class I went to shortly after I put the new parts in. Then I bought a Glock 19 and haven't had a single problem. Only jams were from some girl limp wristing it repeatedly. I've heard a lot of similar complaints about the gen4 G23s.

My Glock is the only one of my "old" guns that has never had an issue. Though the problems I had in the past on my Sigs and Beretta were ammo problems- stovepipes from weak rounds each time- you get that one soft recoil that makes the .45 feel like a .22 and you know something was wrong. When I use the Storm Lake 9mm barrel the ejection is a bit off sometimes, but never a misfeed. But I expect that since the extractor/ejector isn't tuned for 9mm and it may even just be because I always shoot indoors and some rounds that did eject fine just bounce off something and end up hitting me. It's hard to tell. I fully expect my HK and new Sig will be flawless too.

Made a decision today. Went with a S&W M&P 15-22. My local guy ordered 4 of them, they sent him 3 regular 15-22's, and one that was outfitted with a MagPul stock, forearm, and sights. I think it'll be something fun to take out and play with, and still relatively cheap.

Haven't had a single jam in my Gen4 G22 with about 4000 rounds through it.
