Doing some shopping, need some input

Within the next month, I'm going to be in the market for a new firearm for the house. Ideally, I'd like to stay under $600. Outside of that, I really don't know what direction I want to go in. Currently, I have a Binelli shotgun, a S&W .40 semi auto, a .38 S&W wheel gun, and a bolt action rifle in .22L. I'd like to get something that I can shoot recreationally and not spend an arm & a leg on ammuntion. At the same time, I want something practical, good for home defense, and not overwhelming should the wife need to use it. Seems like a helluva lot of typing, sorry about that, just looking for some suggestions. Thanks

Well you may not find much under $600 the way things are going. Ammunition is going for a premium if you can even find it. If I were you, I would wait until things calm down and the gun / ammo companies catch up on their orders.

Sounds like an AR Carbine would fit your needs.....going to be a while until you can get one of those priced regularly.

The shotgun I have is a Binelli 12 gauge, pump action. Forgot to mention the Mossberg persuader my father gave me. I was looking at the Mossberg 715 that someone else on here had asked about. Also looked at the Ruger SR-22. Something that I could run a lot of rounds through on a Sunday, but I could still run Yellwojackets or something along those lines and have it pack a decent punch

are you looking for a shotgun or a rifle or pistol or what?

a 12g pump with a short barrel is a pretty ideal home defense weapon.. you can get an R 870 with an 18 inch barrel for dirt cheap, and you can customize it anyway you want with rails lasers lights or sights if you wanted.

or you could get an R 11-87 the semi auto shotgun for around 600

That's the kicker, I'm not really sure which direction I want to go. I've got two shotguns already. I carried an 870 when I was with the sheriff's office and never had any problems out of it. Not really worried about accessories on a shotgun, the laser really wouldn't serve much purpose. I know a 1911 is not realistic, but it's definitely on my wishlist lol. Our department issued off-duty weapon was a Sig P250 compact. I really liked the feel of that gun, and always loved the Sigs. But I know they can carry a heavier price tag also.

I thought about something like that. I like the Springfield XD. My brother-in-law has a PK 380 that he likes to shoot. I probably need to just go look a few things over myself and see what feels comfortable

I only recommend Glocks or M&Ps for defensive carry pistols, but use whatever you are most comfortable with. If they made an M&P that was the same size as a Glock 19, that would be my go to gun. But they don't.. So I carry a G19.

I carry my S&W daily and like it, so I've considered looking at an M&P. Going to take a look at a few options this weekend and what pops out

I love my glock G22 that I carry daily. Go with whatever feels the best in your hands, however.

Although the best thing about glocks, is that they go BOOM when you pull the trigger, no matter what
