This morning while checking my email I got this same email for the 4th time in a week. The subject this time is Lab Report 10. The message says "Hi, I send you this file in order to have your advice. See you later, thanks."

Just don`t open the attachment that comes with it. I did the first time I got it but Nortons saved my butt. Just a warning if you havent already heard about it.

Thanks for the advice!!  I got that email the other day and almost opened it (canceled it at the last second) and decided to wait a few days to see if I heard anything about it being a virus.  What all does it do to your system?

I got it from someone in my family.

First, it replicates in your hard drive and attaches itself to program files you have stored. Then it goes to your address book and begins sending itself out randomly with new subject titles.

For instance, Josh got one from me that had a subject of "GMTC Flyer".  His antivirus caught it though.

But coming from someone you know, with a subject you are interested in almost guarentees it will be opened.

After a while (2-3 days), it starts shutting down various operations. It killed my email and internet capabilities before I knew that I had it. I thought my Norton was up to date, but NOOOOOOOOO!

I had to learn the hard way! Check out Symantec's website for a free check and the removal tool.

Experience, while not the most efficient teacher, is certainly the most effective.

MountaineerTom got it too.

Yep.  The name of the removal tool is W32.Sircam.Worm@MM Removal Tool.  It cleared everything up on mine.
