Header Opinions

Alright crew, I've done a lot of reading online about this, but I can't find much good info. I have an Autocal and I'm getting the truck tuned by BBP as soon as I get everything sorted out. My truck is almost to 100k miles, so my cats could go anytime. I know I could just gut them, but I'd rather replace the stock manifolds with aftermarket headers. What is my best option to get rid of my cats? I'm not looking to buy the cheapest POS set I can find, but I don't want to spend enough to buy another truck either. What do you guys have experience with and what has worked for you?

I bought the best pacesetter headers they make or claim with the ceramic coating, the reviews I read on them are all good and they are affordable, Only thing though is I am going completely custom with no cats, x piped, with cherry bomb extremes dumped before the axle, then I'll have Justin retune the truck and then dyno it to see the power gains.

I looked at Pacesetter and a few others. The primary objective is losing the cats though, so I guess LT headers would be the way to go, and then I'd need a new Y pipe. I may just cut out the cats and weld in pipe.

Look into OBX as well

+2 on the pacesetters. Had them on my 2002. Only had issues with leaks, but solved the issue it wasn't the headers fault my fault for cheaping out on gaskets. Sounded real throaty, deff felt like the engine was breathing much better.

Ks- whatever you decide to get just make sure you get good fel-pro gaskets and stage 8 fasteners. Spend the cash on good hardware. You won't regret it.

My headers will run $900 for Cali legal mid-lengths. So you will be fine buying long tubes

Auto anything will give you a 15% discount with free shipping, that's what they did for me, all I did was ask and they did it.

Or you can enter code WELCOME15 and it should give you the discount.

Thanks for the tip Cameron!

What bolts are you using for yours? I want to make sure I get grade 8 SS.

I'm hoping I don't have to do much modification to the exhaust if I get these.

If you plan to lose the cats, you won't. If you plan on y pipe then it will be even more simpler. As for bolts, I am still.having trouble finding a set that are decently priced

Which Y pipe do I need? Autoanything doesn't list one. If everything lines up I can do all the welding, I just don't have anything to bend with.
