Dynamic vs. Static Balancing...Pros and cons

So. I am hours from pulling the trigger on a new set of Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx in 285/70/17 for my 2010 Silverado. I just had my steel wheels powder coated black and I HATE the look of hammer on wheel weights on the outside edge of the wheel. I will not accept them...period...

 

So... what are my options? Static balance with only weights on the inside edge of the rim? Dynamic balance with weights on the inside edge of the rim and stick on weights? Anything else that isnt going to cost me an arm and a leg?

 

The local Discount tire will be doing the work so I want the job done right, don't want to have issues with wobble or vibration etc. What should I tell the jokers at discount tire other than if they damage my powder coated wheels, they buy them!! AND, if I see wheel weights on the outside edge I will be very unhappy.

 

I assume places like discount tire use "no touch" mounting machines and state of the art road force balancing machines.... am I wrong?

 

Suggestions, opinions, insight form those of you that are more familiar with this topic than I....

I had static balancing done with sticky weights a week after i brought my truck home from the dealer. No issues what so ever... its the only way to go IMO

Dynamic here, sticky weights on the inside.

I am probably going to look at the sticky weights as well. I do not want hammer on weights on the outer edge of the wheel. I hate how it looks and it encourages corrosion.

My local Discount Tire doesn't do Load Force, I just had my 33x12.5's done at Belle Tire for my Jeep and they Load Force balanced them using sticky weights and they came out perfect

Good to know... hmmm.... My local Belle tire quoted me $35.00 more per tire. I will call Discount tire and see what they have to say about balancing and wheel weights. If they will not use sticky weights, I may just go to an independent shop that will.

Belle Tire on Pierson Road in Flint Mi. charged me $18 per tire to mount Load Force Balance with stickies and filled with Nitrogen

Well.. I pulled the trigger today. Ordered Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx in 285/70/17. Hopefully will have them installed on my newly powder coated black steel wheels this Saturday Morning. I will try and get some photos up this weekend. Discount tire said no problem with a "touchless" mount and Dynamic balance with no weights on the outer edge of the rim. Cant wait to see the truck with the new tires and black wheels. Once I get photos up, I too will be joining the "Red truck club"!! An added bonus... the UPS man just dropped off my Airaid Jr kit... Should have everything done this weekend!!!
