bowtie_pasta Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I have a 06 Tahoe with TPMS. I just swapped an older set of 17" Tahoe wheels yesterday and realized they probably don't have TPMS sensors in them. Does anyone know which year Chevy started putting TPMS on the Tahoes? Thanks.
SouthCo Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 IDK but my wife's 05 Yukon XL has them. Sent using Tapatalk
bowtie_pasta Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 Thanks. Didn't realize the '05 had them. Did the '05 show individual pressure for each tire?
Gone Again Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Suburban and Tahoe started using them in 2004 and they read each tire individually.
bowtie_pasta Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 Hmmm, these might have them then. I think they came off an '03 or '04 Tahoe. Should they sync up if I go through the manual reset procedure (assuming they have them)?
Gone Again Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Look at the valve stems. If they're the black rubber, regular looking type then they don't have TPMS. If they are rigid metal, they do. GM didn't use the regular looking stems with TPMS back then. If you have them and they are good, you should be able to reset them.

Just going off memory from when I put air in them I think they are the rigid metal type. We shall see...thanks again.
bowtie_pasta Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Hey they were metal stems and the TPMS sync'd right up! I'm stoked, thanks for all the help!
