Front drive shaft issue

So I've been hearing a noise in my 99 silverado 2500 NBS, when coasting at low speed. It's my front driveshaft which feels loose where the slip spline goes into the transfer case. The strange thing is it feels tight when I pull the slip spline out of the t-case a little. To me it seems like the spline goes in too far when installed and causes play. Any thoughts?

I took my `09 in for this and they told me the play was normal. They put a brand new `13 on the rack and let me feel the play and it was identical to mine. I can feel / hear it beneath my feet when I start from a stop as the slip yoke slides out and back in even though it's not spinning.

Ok now I need to finish the story. I decided to put new u joints on my driveshafts. It has over 200k. That's how I bought my truck with that many miles. Anyway the noise was there already there before. But after new u joints it's louder and more annoying. And I guess my truck has autotrac 4wd, which I knew nothing about at first and heard the front shaft always spins, which I found out that it does spin all the time.

So since this problem has been bothering me been looking to replace the whole drive shaft. But since they cost too damn much I searched a little harder and found the spline shaft (yoke). Above is a link and the part number for the part. Cheapest I found online and hopefully this fixes it. And the site even has the rubber boot to cover the shaft.

Not unless you think it's the transfer case. When I took the drive shaft out the boot was gone and it was rusted in there. Had to use a hammer to get it out. The noise wasn't that bad before I took it out. Now it's clanking like a mother @!)~%*~#! Had to take out the drive shaft and leave it out.
