Leds in speedo and climate control panel

I;m going to put blue leds in all my dash lights. I need to know what mcd intensity I need.

Since the 900's are LED already, iirc, probably lots fewer have done anything to them. I can't recall seeing anything. You might google and see what you come up with

Thanks txab. I read the two posts and thats why I'm confused. One used 5100 mcd white and the other used 13000 mcd blue. Thats a big differance. I know the higher the mcd the hotter the led is. But I don't know if 13000 mcd is to hot. And now you throw in a curve ball with the gmt 900 having leds. Now I have to know what gm used in those. So if anyone knows the answer to that I would greatly appreciate you telling me.

After reading several " How to's", I've purchased 12 volt blue leds that are 5000 mcd. These leds do not require a resistor. Also got a silverado ss white face overlay. Thanks for all your help.

The leds have about a 30 degree angle and wont work for the speedo. Might work in the hvac controller. Just been working alot and haven't had time work on it. The new SS face applique is blue so I don't need blue leds for the cluster. I'm going to use white smd leds for the cluster. I have to get into the cluster and take some measurements to see which ones to use. I'd like to use the neo 5 from superbrightled, they have the resistor built in. Maybe this weekend I'll get to work on it.

Today I put the leds and SS white face applique in. Also put leds in the hvac controller. I'm not happy with the leds. Too many hot spots and dull spots. I guess I'm going try some different type leds. The white face is great .
