remote start installed now horn honks

when i press the unlock button on the keyless entry. i was told its some type of security feature on the truck. does anyone know how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated its very annoying.

On an alarm install there is usually an alarm disarm output. You connect that to the disable on your truck

There is a light green wire at the BCM wire that you hook the disarm
wire on the alarm to. To arm the factory alarm, you either have to lock
the truck with a door open, or send ground to the drivers door pin when
you lock the truck.

i had a electric start installed. the factory alarm is the problem i bought the bypass kit did he install it ?

He had to install it in order for it to bypass the factory starter disable. Which bypass kit did you purchase? It may not be the correct kit as not all of the disable the OEM alarm.

I have not done a RS only on the 2001. I have done several alarms but your bypass kit should interact with the databus and disable the system. Not all bypass kits do this. Some only bypass the V.A.T.S so you can START the vehicle. My guess is you either need another bypass or and aditional module, "IF" your remote start does not have a factory disarm output.

What brand and model R/S, and what bypass module did they use. This is what I do for a living but I need to know this information to narrow it down. Does it only honk on unlock or does it honk on lock as well.

He might have the locks set to double pulse which will definitely give you a factory horn honk on these trucks. My own will honk once if i lock and honk once again if i hit lock a second time, to roll up my windows, followed by a second honk from the factory system, a fraction of a second later. other wise I get one honk from the R/S on lock and two on unlock. If the honk is generated by the R/S on most units it cant be shut off or simply disconnect the horn wire. If it is generated by the truck, I bet the locks are set to double pulse unlock.

its an excalibur remote start. it only honks if i try to unlock the truck with the remote and its not all the time just 80% of the time

even when the windows are up i know when they are down you cant reach in and unlock but when they are up?
