Kenne Bell SC on 5.3

Hi I`m a new user.  I was just wondering if anyone knows if Kenne Bell`s supercharger kit for a 2002 5.3L silverado takes care of the Torque management function. The kit includes an Optimizer II with is said to control spark, fuel and other parameters (such as tranny firmness).  They also state that they Flash recalibrate the ECU (I don`t know exactly how...).  ??? If the kit doesn`t take care of T M, is LS1Edit compatible with the Optimizer II and Flash recalibration? I`m leaning towards KB because there are no auxiliary injectors.

Probably the same way the Hypertech Power Programmer does it.

I too, am trying to decide between a Whipple and a Kenne Bell.  I like some things about the KB approach.  It is simpler, and as complex as trucks are these days, that is a good thing  .  I especially like the approach of using larger injectors rather than the auxiliary injectors.  This should give a more even fuel distribution, than the Whipple.

One thing to think about, because KB reprograms the GM computer, you cannot get updates from the dealer as they revert the programming back to stock.  Not sure if you can remove the KB program, update and then re-apply the KB program.  KB would probably say 'at your own risk' unless they have tested the combination.

The big downside to me is KBs reputation for really bad customer support and occasional quality problems.

I don't think that's accurate.  In cylinder heads, for example, it's more efficient to have two intake valves and two exhaust valves than to have one of each that's larger.

I can't really speak for the Kenne Bell SC, but I just sold my 2000 Z71 Ext. Cab that I had recently installed a whipple on and it was AWESOME!  I had a pretty free flowing exhaust and was only running about 4-5lbs. of boost and it was FAST!!!  I used to race all kinds of cars and I was even more surprised at the cars I would beat.  I purchased the whipple to get some guts out of the motor for towing, but it turned out the rest of the drivetrain didn't like the extra power the motor was putting out when I towed.  I was going through axle bearings like it was going out of style....so...I had to sell it and get a 2500HD.  I really miss that truck...I didn't have any problems with the Whipple and I had it for about 6 months and not one ounce of problems.  It has a light also in case the mixture gets too lean while in the boost range and it never came on once....even towing the steepest of grades.  Like I said, I can't speak first hand for the Kenne bell, but i can speak for the Whipple and I would do it again....Not one regret.  I know i wasn't able to answer your torque management question, but I hope I was able to give you good first hand info from a former Whipple owner.....Take it easy!!
