Engine Swap Help Please

Hello everyone! As you will notice I am new here. I have been tasked by a friend to look into the possibility of swapping in a new(er) 6.2l gm vortec engine into a silverade 1500... it is year 07 I believe. I am wondering: 1: is this possible/practical; and 2: where would I look to buy one of these engines? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Which body style is it? If it is the correct body, the swap will be straight forward and the 4 speed transmission will have to be beefed up and the computer reprogrammed. As far as getting one check wrecking yards and eBay.

He said it was an LT with the new body style. Is there anywhere I can go to buy a brand new one or is that not very possible? BTW thanks for the quick response!

If you go that route get the LS3 or LSx376 from GM performance parts. Both are 6.2's and all you will have to do is get a truck intake manifold and fuel rails.

Only if it is a classic 07. If it is nnbs, you will just need to swap out wiring harnesses.

It's probably very possible. But not practical at all.
