just picked up a 2013 sierra 2500 4x4 crewcab. its the work truck model but came with the upgraded18 inch steel wheels and tires. i just put on a set of 18 inch factory polished aluminum wheels with the michelin ltx at 2 on them. i want get a second set of tires for the winter and was going to take off the michelin ltx at2from the steel wheels and put on something for the snow. selection is limited on the 18 in wheels. can i find a set of 17 in factory steel wheels and use those?is the height of the tires the same between the 17 and 18 if the specs are the same? sorry for the questions but got 2 different answers . if so ill jusll sell the tires and 18 in steel wheels together . thanks

It spends on the sizes of the tires. They may vary abouf a half inch. Just remember if you are going to try to find 17's, thry changed the bolt pattern in 2011 or 2012

Wait. The set of aluminum wheels that you have, did they come with tires? Or did you swap the tires from the steel wheels to the aluminum ones?

the new ones came with the same tires tires i had so i have 2 sets of 18s now. very limited choices in a snow rated tire in 18 inch. just found out that cooper just started offering their discoverer m&s tires in the 265/70/18e size that i need even though they arent listed on the cooper website yet . the michelin tires on the steel wheels will come off and looks like a set of coopers will bo going on. havent decided whether i should sell or store the extra tires yet

If you turn your torsion bars up just a little, you can run a 275/70/18 tire on your stock steel rims. There are many more choices in that size. Just an idea...

thanks for the suggestion but dont want to go any wider than a 265 for the winter. i like the way the michelin ltx at2's ride and they will go back on in the spring .ill be going for those coopers for the winter
