R&D Headlight & Foglight Controller

I want to install R&D's headlight AND foglight controllers on my 00 Yukon. My question is this: can I install both of them on my truck?

Has anyone else installed both, or either of them? If so, how hard is the install? How do you like the results?

I'm most interested in the foglight one, which will turn my foglights on whenever my low beams come on. I don't drive with the high beams on too much, but I'd like the extra light coverage of having both the low beams and high beams on when the highs are engaged.

Yes, you can. I have both, plus the auto door unlocks, and headlight override. With the foglight controller, you can wire it into the wiring so that the fogs come on with either the park lights or the headlights.

Tom - thanks for your answer and for the link to your site. How hard is this job to do? What tools do I need? How long does it take? Also, do I have to remove any of the dash components in the cabin, or is this all done under the hood in the electrical center?

I just installed the fog light controller about 2months ago and I just ordered the head light controller. The fog light controller is easy the worst part is just taking off and putting back on the plastic piece on the dash. I had a hard time with the clips on the bottom of the dash popping out on me. But its a pretty easy install. I hadnt thought of ordering the head light controller until a long trip overnight and i decided to play with the lights. If u slowly pull the high beam switch your high and low will be on until your switch clicks. There is a pretty big difference between having the highs on only and both...try it .......good luck............

titanium10k prety much covered it. Some sockets, rachet, and maybe some screw drivers are about all you'll need.

The headlight controller is installed in the elecrtical center box under the hood, on the drivers side.

The fog light controller is installed under the steering column, behind the panel under the steering column. The dash trim and that panel will need to be removed to install it.

It didn't take too much time to install it.

I installed both. Piece of cake. My only complaint, which I posted here a while ago, is that the foglight kit doesn't reset itself if the auto headlamps come on and off. So when the lights turn on the first time, everything works fine. But if they shut off automatically, the next time they turn on (assuming you have not cycled the ignition to off), the fogs will not come on (in fact, they are on for 1 second, and the controller shuts em off). I called R&D about it, and they never called me back. I just gave up on it. I guess it's no big deal.

so, if i am driving at dusk, say, and the lights automatically come on, then i drive through a brighter area and they go off, the next time the low beams come on the fogs won't come on and stay on automatically? I guess I can live with that.

but, if this happens then i shut off the car and the next day turn it on, will them come on automatically again?

Yeah if your lights go on than off and back on again without restarting the truck the fogs won't come back on, but if you restart it they will work like a charm.

Correct. So 90% of the time, it's serves it purpose. Now in the case that the lights cycle, and the fogs are off, you can just turn them on with the switch like you do now.

Hope you get better service than I've gotten from them. I placed an order for one of their head light controllers on 31 January and still haven't recieved it. Buddy placed an order last Thursday and already recieved his parts. I called to ask the status but all I got was an machine.

I placed an order for the headlight and foglight controllers more than 2 weeks ago and haven't gotten mine either. did it online. i called a couple times and left messages, haven't heard a thing from them.
