Is a gmt800 headlight switch fixable?

I have a 2006 gmc sierra 2wd reg cab long bed w/4.8l v8 auto.

The headlight switch has an odd problem.

The auto setting works fine and the drl works as well.

but if i want to switch the headlights on manually, sometimes I have to press on the body of the switch/knob to get the headlights to come on.

Same thing with the interior light roller switch built into it.

Is their a fix other than buying a new $60 switch?

Buy new one

Try to repair old one.

If repaired, then return new one.

If repair fails, install new one and move on with life.

the question is, has anybody successfully repaired one? if so, do they have a how-to on it?

None that I have seen. I have heard somebody pulled one apart and never got it back together successfully. Suggest you search the site.

I'd pull it out and check the plug connector on back

The contacts inside are probably worn or dirty. In my 2003 it stopped lighting up and when I tried to take it apart to investigate I ended up breaking it. Probably best to pony up and get a new one.
