Knocking sound after oil change

I bought a used 05 silverado with 175k miles. Talked to the previous owner quite a bit before making the purchase and he seemed very straightforward and honest. I decided to change the oil to start fresh on regular maintenance. afterwards im now hearing a knocking our slight tapping sound. I recheck the level and it was good. I stayed it send let it idle to warm up for about ten minutes and the tapping went away. This morning however it didn't go away. I let it idle for ten to fifteen minutes and still has the consistent trapping sound. I live in south Texas so temperature shouldn't be a factor here. I used Castrol high mileage oil and a fram high mileage filter. he was running Castrol synthetic with a k&n filter but I plan to do my oil changed every 3000 so decided to go conventional. bad choice? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Could very well be the oil filter not flowing as well as the last one. Fram filters are junk and it wouldn't surprise me if it was restricting the oil flow, especially compared to the k&n that was on there before.

Thanks for your response. I swapped it out and put a different brand on and a little Lucas oil stabilizer let it run for fifteen minutes and the knock is gone. Hopefully it was the filter, that seems to be pretty common with fram from what I've read.

IMO I would stick with the full synthetic, extend your changed to 5-6k miles or twice a year. you would be cheaper off in long run and less maintenance.

The way i see it, if its lasted this long running that great for 175k miles, dont switch its blood from a positive to a negative!
