burnt plastic smell from under dash..then air bag light?

HI everyone. kinda crazy this weekend was sitting in the truck in a parking lot...for about an hour. Noticed a strange burning smell under the dash like burnt plastic or electrical smell. right after i noticed the air bag light on. I have done some reading through gm tech articles ...alot of things point to the blower motor restistor but that works fine. (btw mine is the module type..recently replaced)

Read something about the seat belt pre tensioners going off..but i think i would of heard that besides my truck has the standard (a95) high back buckets..nothing weird there with pretensioners.

any ideas?

well its the silverado in my sig looks like i didnt put that in there....sorry 2006 lt2 truck 106k miles. found out after getting someone in the shop to take the tech 2 to it that i actually have 2 issues.

1: no communication with srs module....could be burn out fuse...hence the burning smell ill check that later as the module is under the seat and like $400 list so hopefully not it.

2:bad connection to ipc (typical cluster failure) but all my gauges and everything works...just having a issue somewher between the dash(ipc) to the pcm to the diag port under the dash (obd2 port)

i will check into these guys and see whats going on hopefully just a fuse and will be good. The other part i dont want to have to put a cluster in but if i do...looks like caddillac cluster is calling my name...ha ha

Sounds like you have more to go on than most people do... I'd lean towards the module/fuse but who knows with these trucks one thing can effect another without the obvious symptoms...
