Clicking/ticking when gas pedal is released

I noticed a clicking/ticking noise coming from my gas pedal when it is released. It does it right before it reaches the top of its travel. It does not do this when pressing the pedal down.

If I release the pedal normally I get it but if I slowly release it I don't get the click. If I'm sitting in the truck it sounds like it is coming from the left side of the dash near the door but if I'm near the pedal it sounds like it is coming from the pedal housing itself. It looks like it is the pedal arm contacting the housing but not sure if it is the actual switch itself.

Any thoughts?

Found out yesterday and this morning it's temp related. It was in the mid 50's here yesterday afternoon and when I drove the truck there was no clicking what-so-ever. Last night the temp dropped quickly and this morning it was 6* and as soon as I started driving and let off the pedal I heard the click. It happened the whole way on my 15 mile commute every time I let off the gas.

I guess it just doesn't like the cold. It sounded like it was coming from the lower left side of the dash right around my left knee. Relay or something?

If you can get it to make the noise by using your hand on the gas pedal, you should be able to feel the click if you touch the thing making the noise. If it only does with a foot, then get someone to push the pedal for you, and you lay on the floor and try to touch the part making the noise.

I know it sounds funny to touch the sound, but, a sound is nothing more than air moving, something has to actually move to make a sound, and by touching you can sometimes touch the actual thing making the noise and either change the noise by pushing or squeezing the object, You can also feel the vibration sometimes if you touch the correct part.

Take a look at any springs involved, try a quick shot of WD40 on any pivots or springs. I would put paper towel or a clean rag under the part you try to spray to avoid the easily spreadable mess that WD40 can sometimes create.

I've got a similar sensation when I press the gas pedal.

And only after I started the truck and start driving.

I can feel it in the pedal and sometimes I can hear it.

It actually feels like as when the traction control takes over for a split second.

But since it only occurs the first time after I started the engine I figure it is just some "system check thing".

Nobody knows if there is a relay that is under the knee bolster that could be gong bad? It sounds like it is coming front the left side of the knee bolster trim.
