Cruise Control Cable?

I have a 1999 (NBS) z71 with a 5.3 engine. I am trying to disconnect the Cruise Control Cable & I can unhook the plastic clip, but the tubing just slides back & fourth. I am trying to disconnect it from the throttle body.

If I remember right the throttle body has an elliptical metal piece that the throttle cable attaches to. You can disconnect the throttle cable by turning that elliptical piece so the end of the throttle cable is easily accessible. If you un hook the throttle cable it should pass through the black plastic clip you are trying to unhook.

I can easily unhook the throttle cable, by twisting it backwards, but I can't get the plastic tubing, for the cruise control, to unhook either way. I am going to change my knock sensors and didn't want to break something else, while doing so. I think it might be something simple, but I could not figure it out. I know, on the newer ones, they just twist out. Thanks for the reply!!

Here is a couple of pics of the housing holding the cable.

I can pull the plastic clip out and the cable will pull to the end, but not all the way out.

Here is a few from the top angle.

With center piece pushed in, it locks the cable in place for the cruise.

Center piece pulled out it will let the plastic insert slide to the end, but that's it.

Here I am trying to pull the cable out, but that is far as it will go.

that is about the time mine broke, when it came off the pivot ball. 80 dollars for a new cable and back in business

That is why I was afraid to mess with it too much.
