USB question

I was using an usb with an Itunes library on it. It overloaded the system with the nav on an would lock up. I use an old Ipod instead and have no problems. I believe the system can only handle a limited amount of data at a time.

Hi TJay74,

I’m sorry to hear that you are having problems with your USB drive in your vehicle. I would like to take a better look into this. Can you please private message me your VIN? Thank you.

I use my iPhone and simply Bluetooth my music from my iCloud to the truck. No longer need cables or even the iPod.

Hi everyone,

Had my truck for about 2 weeks now. I have the 8" without Nav. Played music fine off my USB stick, so I moved "2 CD" albums into a single folder to make it quicker to navigate through. Now, the truck "remembers" the files' old locations, and my album list is doubled in spots where I combined CD's into a single folder. Is there any way to fix this? I tried a different USB slot thinking it might force a refresh of the files, but it didn't work. It's really annoying that it tries to play songs that are no longer there, and sounds like record skipping as it tries and fails song after song.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Well that answers that. GM Support sent me to Intellilink Support, who informed me to reset the system to factory default. Guess I need to do that any time I move a file or delete one? Wow.

I have a 500 GB USB Powered Drive plugged in with about 60,000 songs and have never had a single issue. I was really surprised how fast it read and organized everything. I love the sound system.

Short update on this. Reset the truck's options completely back to stock, including options not related to the stereo itself. The problem persisted. It ended up fixing the song list by itself about 2 days later. My theory is that it must not refresh indexes for files it thinks are present, but only for newly added files. It must do a complete indexing every couple of days or something.

For reference, there were about 5 folders containing about 100 songs total on the USB. No changes were made to the USB's physical location or contents after the truck's options were reset, and the problem disappeared about 2 days later as noted above.
