4x4 indicator

I recently purchased a 2011 Silverado z71 4x4, 5.3l and noticed that when I select 4H, it goes into gear, but there isn't an indicator on the dash. The dash only illuminates when I turn it to 4L. Is this normal, or should the 4x4 light come on in 4H?

Can someone please put their NNBS truck in 4H and tell me if the 4x4 indicator comes on the dashboard? Please, and thank you.

Nope, this is one of the great mysteries from GM. For whatever reason they elected to only make that indicator work on the manual lever type transfer cases.

I'm guessing that since the auto trak puts the truck into 4wd Hi on demand (as needed) they didn't want the light flashing on and off.
