2003 Sierra Transmission Oil Pan-Shift Bracket??

I have a 2003 Sierra Z71 with the 16 bolt deep transmission pan. I started to change out my filter today and was wondering how to drop the pan around the shifting bracket??

channel lock pliers ,,,use the driveshaft and pull the bracket over while removing the pan ,,,,bend it back after job is done !!!

Some go with the bend method, I have always used the correct size Torx bit on a ratchet and removed the assembly. Not that hard and no worries about bending stuff.

I tried with a small 1/4" drive rachet with a T40 torx, and have NO clearance. I have barely enough room to get on the bolt but cant get leverage to turn bolt.

If you live in areas that use road salt, corrosion has conveniently made it impossible for you to unbolt it. Just bend it, it wont break. If you are bound and determined to remove it, remove the front driveshaft and spray pb blaster or your favorite skunk piss on there and try again.

Ended up bending it, took some "adjusting" when I reinstalled to find 1st gear, but it worked

Can someone post a picture of exactly what is being "bent"? I would be extremely leery of bending anything to do with the transmission.

Its the black shift cable bracket on the drivers side.

I am not familiar with what is under my truck to know what that is. But next time I crawl under there, I will try to find that.

I replaced the Torx bolts with standard-head bolts just to simplify things...
