MT's  vs. AT's

I am looking at getting Mud terrain tires over an all terrain. Am I going to notice a difference in gas mileage with the larger lug. I know the noise will increase, but I am sticking to the same size tire, just an MT. Will I notice a drop in gas mileage?

I don't think you will see any difference in mileage as long as you get the same size tire.  You will see a decrease if you go larger.  I am going to get the MT's next time around because I think they give your truck a much more aggressive look.  I've had both on trucks before and I think they perform about the same, the AT's tend to clog up quicker but I never got stuck with either.  Both are great tires, just personel preference.

thanks, I feel the same way. i would like to go with the mud terrain, they are very aggressive looking. Can I expect to get less miles out of them? In miles I meen wear.

You may want to look in to the BFG MT KM's as well as the GY's.

I had MTR's on my truck before the lift went on and I loved them but when I went to upsize after the lift I found that the GY's were more expensive than the Bf's were.

The KM's are made of a harder compound and will ride a little rougher and make a little more noise but they should also last somewhat longer as well with proper balance and rotation.

If you do a lot of highway driving, the GY MTR's are too soft and will wear down very fast.  I speak from experience, I only got 23K miles on a set of 33x12.50, they were completely bald.  They are too over priced if you ask me.  That was a total waste of money.  I have since gone with ProComp MT's, I've sipped them (they had some sipping from the factory) for better traction and have put over 30K on these tires and you cannot tell at all.  My local tire shop started to carry these tires because they could not believe how many miles they have without any wear (They put them on originally).  I rotate them every other oil change, just like I did with the GY's.  I think the GY's are good for offroad, but they will wear extremely fast.  Just my opinion, but I thought you should know another view point to consider.  You need to consider where and how you will use these tires.  Chris

He did mostly highway driving.  Those tires are totally not made for highway.  I honestly don't understand how people expect 30k+ out of an agressive tire designed specifically for offroad.  Get wilderness AT's if you're worried about little stuff like that or noise for that matter.  Ya pay to play!  And I have MTR's and they are overpriced, look cool as heck though.
