Black smoke on start

a few days ago i noticed that my truck on start would kick out a nice sized puff of black/ blue smoke. i talked to a buddy and he said that it might be my valve seals, im a lil worried about it. i have the 5.3. the thing is that it didnt start doing ut till after i put a lil too much octane booster into it. is this something that will cause big problems or is it kinda of a it will be ok and deal with it problem?
