Rear Camera Installation 2009 Silverado LTZ

Recommended Posts

Posted

I installed a rear camera today on my 2009 Silverado LTZ Crew Cab. It is equipped with factory NAV/DVD. After installing the camera, nothing happens when I put the truck in reverse. I was told that a GM Tech would need to use a "Tech 2" tool to program the NAV to "accept video display". The NAV already displays video when a DVD is playing. Is there programming that indeed needs to occur; if so, what and who can do it? Or, have I potentially made an error during installition?

The lockpick is not an option for me. I installed the coastal electronics pick on my Tahoe. It worked for a while and then DVD and NAV began having issues. I uninstalled the device and everything returned to normal.

Anyone know how to have the Camera work? If the option is a GM Tech, please give any specific instructions as to what the Tech will need to follow.

go into the menu for the Nav , look for the rear camera option if its there turn it on if there is no option in the menu then you have to have a GM tech with the Tech II to turn that option on

You will definitely have to have it programmed. No way around it.

It's not a big deal and you shouldn't let your dealer charge you more than 30-45 minutes in labor charges.
