So, I was contemplating installing an aftermarket cold air intake on my 6.2 sierra. I may have found an option thats just as good. There is a snap in connection between the lower half of the filter box and the inner fender. If you pop the box out it can be easily removed. You will notice that in an effort to reduce intake noise GM made the air inlet rather small, by removing the snap in connection it makes the inlet to the box more than twice as big. This will increase intake noise considerably, but if you are like me I'm sure you want your V8 to sound like one. There is a noticeable difference in power and I havent seen any adverse effect on mileage.
