GM dilema

I was thinking about getting a new GMC 1500 SLT with a pewter interior and the two-tone green exterior or a chevy LT of the same color. I was buying the truck because I want a truck plus to pull a 5000lb camper. My question is to both GM owners is the GMC a better built truck or are the ammendities and hardware the same for each? I've driven a '93 3500 GMC and '96 3500 chevy and the GMC was more load stable and the interior (seat) last much longer. So can you see a difference in quality or is it all professional grade propaganda? I'm willing to pay extra for the GMC just so I don't have that ugly chev-alanche front end.

I believe GMC's and Chevrolets are the same truck, but each have different options. You just tend to find more GMCs with optional equipment than Chevrolets, such as seats and things. As far as your experience with the GMC having more load capability feel, it could have been many things that varied on the two trucks, the GMC could have had optional springs, shocks, or whatever or it could have been something such as different tires that made it feel better. What I am saying is IMO Base to Base trucks there shouldnt be a difference in GMC and Chevrolet, the thing of it is, is that you dont see many GMCs stripped down to the Base trim Chevrolet has, but they both start out as the same thing.

I concur!  Having owned both brands of GM truck before, it's difficult to identify anything that makes one better than the other. However, it seems you can get 'more' for your $$$ with the Chevy so it might be a better investment.

Although it is true that most GMCs seem to have more options even in the base model, I found the Sierra I was looking for (regular cab/stepside) and was surprised to find that it has manual windows and manual transfer.  Power windows would have been nice, but I'm glad to have the manual shifter.
